Protecting Your Health, Safety & Welfare

The Yonkers Department of Housing and Buildings (DHB) is responsible for safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of Yonkers residents, businesses, and property owners in the area of housing and building code enforcement. We issue building permits and certificates of occupancy, conduct inspections, and investigate complaints regarding housing and building construction.

Permit Applications

All building permit application submissions must contain the following: Letter of Transmittal, two sets of plans, and an application with all required insurance documentation. Please note all physical documents that are submitted must be placed on a USB Drive and provided with the application. View the links for further information.

Permit Reminder

Before obtaining a permit to renovate an existing dwelling of 1 to 3 families, the City of Yonkers requires a Home Improvement Contractor’s License which can be obtained from the Consumer Protection Bureau.
